Shades of Black is back. 🎥🌈
For its third annual South Florida Black Pride presentation, the Shades of Black Film Showcase returns for an evening centered on Black LGBTQ+ stories, creative expression, and the power of being seen, heard, and reflected.

Presented by South Florida Black Pride and Black Alphabet as part of Heat Wave Weekend, Shades of Black brings together a curated selection of short films, locally connected filmmakers and creative voices, visual art by Black artists, vendors, and a post-film community conversation exploring the stories, themes, and lived experiences reflected throughout the evening.

This is more than a night at the movies.

It’s a space to see our stories on screen.
To experience art that speaks to who we are.
To gather with community.
To laugh, reflect, connect, and have conversations that continue after the credits roll.

The 2026 Shades of Black Film Showcase is produced and coordinated by Niki Lopez of Niki Lopez Creative, whose work bridges creative storytelling, cultural programming, advocacy, and community connection.
